Berlin orders Citeas Berlin orders Citeas
Following a two-year trial of two VDL Citeas the Berlin Transport Authority, BVG, has placed an order for 236 buses to be delivered between 2014 and 2017.  “This is the largest order ever for VDL Bus & Coach Deutschland,” says the company’s public transport manager, Boris Höltermann. “It makes clear that a light low-entry model is also superbly suited to withstand the harsh traffic conditions in urban Berlin.”

The Citea LLE weighs around 9 tonnes unladen, and in BVG’s tests used around 20 per cent less fuel than other types of bus. BVG runs around 1,300 buses.
